10 grudnia 2010 r.(piątek) maturzysta z V LO - Jakub Śliwiński - uzyskał wyróżnienie(jako jedyny Mielczanin) w XX jubileuszowym Podkarpackim Konkursie Poezji Religijnej w Sędziszowie Małopolskim. Organizatorami konkursu byli: miejsko-gminny Ośrodek Kultury w Sędziszowie oraz Wojewódzki Dom kultury w Rzeszowie. Gościem honorowym był tradycyjnie biskup Edward Białogłowski. Motto konkursu stanowiły słowa A. Mickiewicza: „Wiedzcie, że dla poety jedna tylko droga: w sercu szukać natchnienia i dążyć do Boga.” Na liście gratulacyjnym umieszczono słowa C. K. Norwida: „Z rzeczy tego świata zostaną tylko dwie: poezja i dobroć i nic więcej.” Jakub uczestniczył w recytatorskich konkursach poezji religijnej już od 2009 roku W roku 2009 i 2010 został laureatem eliminacji rejonowych w Mielcu. Przygotowywał się pod kierunkiem pani Jolanty Witek. Prezentował trudną ale niezwykle piękną poezję Roman Brandstaettera. Serdecznie gratulujemy!
